Tusker wreaks havoc, tramples 4 to death in Angul

Angul: At least four persons were killed after being attacked by a wild elephant in different incidents in Odisha’s Angul district on Saturday.
According to sources, the same elephant went on a rampage and killed the four in four separate incidents at Cheliapada, Barasingha, Angarbandh and Santri villages.
The elephant, which has been wreaking havoc in the area after getting separated from a herd, first attacked and killed Subhash Biswal of Cheliapada while he was in his agriculture field.
The animal then strayed towards Angarbandh and Barasingha and killed two other people from the villages in a similar manner. The victims were identified as Anirudha Sahu of Angarbandh and Ramesh Sahu of Barasingha.
Another individual was severely injured when an elephant attacked him in Santri village. He eventually died as a result of his injuries while being treated in a hospital.
The elephant also wreaked havoc on vegetables and grains in several communities in the vicinity.
According to sources, after receiving information, forest officials raced to the settlements to assess the situation.
