Odisha is poised for a significant transformation in both its rural and urban areas as the Mohan Majhi-led BJP government unveils a visionary new budget. This initiative allocates a substantial Rs 408 crore to create a new metropolis in Bhubaneswar, aiming to emulate the success of Hyderabad as a vibrant city.
The ambitious plan is to develop a new Bhubaneswar to promote economic growth and urban development, taking inspiration from Hyderabad's prominence as a major IT hub. Additionally, under Chief Minister Mohan Majhi, the Odisha BJP plans to transform 15 cities into five tri-city clusters.
New Satellite City within Bhubaneswar
A strategic initiative is underway to establish a new satellite city within Bhubaneswar, covering 322 hectares. This project is expected to enhance the region’s infrastructure across various sectors, particularly in IT. Modeled after Hyderabad's development, this initiative is part of the state's comprehensive plan to improve infrastructure.
This development is anticipated to attract significant investments and create numerous employment opportunities. The allocation of Rs 408 crore will support the establishment of this thriving urban center. Furthermore, the Odisha government is prioritizing the rapid completion of the Metro system. The metropolitan expansion will also include a new ring road to facilitate smoother traffic flow.
Transforming Urban Towns into Economic Hubs
The Odisha government is also focused on revitalizing urban development through a budget allocation of Rs 1,100 crore. This initiative aims to transform several city regions into economic powerhouses. The plan encompasses the improvement of five urban corridors: Bhubaneswar-Cuttack-Puri, Sambalpur-Jharsuguda-Baragarh, Jeypore-Sunabeda-Koraput, Chatrapur-Brahmapur-Gopalpur, and Keonjhar-Badbil-Joda. These areas are envisioned as future economic hubs, crucial for enhancing local economies and infrastructure.
Under this scheme, the government will emphasize the development of creation centers and tourism circuits. There will also be significant improvements in logistics, higher education facilities, and medical services. Odisha's vision includes several iconic infrastructure projects designed to enhance connectivity and improve public services in the targeted regions.
