BSF commandant died after falling off his bike in Malkangiri

Malkangiri: On Sunday, a BSF commandant died after falling off his bike during combing operations against Maoists in Kalimela, Odisha's Malkangiri district, in a terrible incident.

BSF Commandant Rakesh Kumar (48), of the 76 Battalion, based near MPV 21 in Kalimela, had set out on a motorcycle with other security officials to conduct combing operations against Maoists in the surrounding jungles. He collided with his bike and sustained major head injuries. At 3 a.m. on Sunday, the incident occurred.

He was hurried back to the BSF base, where he was transferred to the Kalimela hospital. Doctors proclaimed him dead when he was brought to the hospital.

Kumar was from the state of Rajasthan. According to BSF sources, plans are being made to transport his body to Rajasthan.
