Wild elephant kills woman, then returns to attack dead body at funeral in Baripada

Baripada: An elephant that crushed a 70-year-old woman to death in a village in Odisha's Mayurbhanj district returned hours later to assault her body at her funeral in an unusual incident.
Raipal village was the scene of the incident. On Thursday morning, Maya Murmu was gathering water from a tubewell when she was attacked by an elephant that had strayed from the Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary.
When Maya's funeral rites were being done in the evening, the elephant appeared out of nowhere, dragged the body from the pyre, and mauled it once more.
