MVA's Maharashtra deal on 260 seats: Congress gets 115, Uddhav gets 85, and Sharad gets 75.
Differences among the opposition alliance partners regarding remaining constituencies will be resolved soon, according to sources.
The Maha Vikas Aghadi has finalized the allocation of 260 out of the 288 seats in the Maharashtra assembly. The remaining seats will be allocated soon as differences among the opposition alliance partners are being resolved. The alliance has agreed that the Congress will contest 110 to 115 seats, Shiv Sena (UBT) 83 to 86, and NCP (SP) 72 to 75. A deal on the remaining 20 to 25 seats is expected to be reached soon.
The delay in reaching an agreement on the remaining seats is due to all alliance partners demanding these particular seats. Efforts are being made to satisfy all parties while also considering the likelihood of winning these seats.
The meeting was attended by prominent leaders including Maharashtra Congress president Nana Patole, party leader Balasaheb Thorat, NCP (SP) state president Jayant Patil, and Shiv Sena (UBT)’s Sanjay Raut.
It was also decided that two to three seats will be given to the Samajwadi Party, Left parties will get two to three seats, and the Peasants and Workers Party will also get two to three seats in the assembly polls.
Regarding the allocation of seats, Uddhav Thackeray is insisting on more seats in Mumbai and the Konkan belt, which are Shiv Sena (UBT) strongholds. Congress will contest more seats in Vidarbha, while the NCP (SP) will contest more seats in western Maharashtra. Each party is striving to win more seats to stake a claim for the Chief Minister's post.
Additionally, the Congress parliamentary board held a meeting in Delhi on Wednesday where candidates for 60 seats were finalized.
