A woman's body was discovered hanging inside her home in Bhubaneswar, amid allegations that she committed suicide after being unable to repay a loan from a self-help group (SHG).

Bhubaneswar: A woman's body was discovered hanging inside her home in Bhubaneswar, amid allegations that she committed suicide after being unable to repay a loan from a self-help group (SHG).
The incident occurred in Chintamanishwar Jena Colony in the Laxmisagar area of Odisha's capital on Tuesday morning. J K Milan, who hailed from the Banki area of Cuttack district, was identified as the deceased woman.
According to sources, the woman took out a loan from a SHG but was unable to repay it. The SHG allegedly put enormous pressure on the woman to repay the loan in installments.
According to neighbors, the woman took the extreme step due to mental stress caused by debt burden.
After being informed of the incident, a police team rushed to the scene. The body, discovered hanging from the ceiling in a saree, was recovered and sent for autopsy. More research is being conducted.
