Six workers have died following an explosion at a firecracker factory in the Virudhunagar district of Tamil Nadu.

The explosion is believed to have occurred while mixing chemicals, destroying at least one room and resulting in fatalities. At least six men were killed in an explosion at a firecracker unit in Bommaiyapuram village, near Sattur, on Saturday.

Six workers have died following an explosion at a firecracker factory in the Virudhunagar district of Tamil Nadu.

According to sources, the incident occurred at Sainath Fireworks in the morning while the workers were manufacturing crackers. 

Upon receiving the alert, Fire and Rescue personnel from Virudhunagar, Sattur, and Aruppukottai rushed to the scene and extinguished the fire. 

Currently, six bodies have been recovered, and their identities have yet to be determined. The bodies will be transferred to the Government Medical College Hospital in Virudhunagar for autopsy. Further rescue operations are ongoing. 

It is important to note that this is the first firecracker-related accident in the district this year.
