Man mauled to death by jackal in Bhadrak village

A 44-year-old man was allegedly killed by a pack of jackals in the Basudevpur area of Odisha's Bhadrak district.

Bhadrak: A 44-year-old man was allegedly killed by a pack of jackals in the Basudevpur area of Odisha's Bhadrak district.

According to sources, some Kumarpur residents within the Basudevpur police limits discovered a body near the village pond early Tuesday morning. Jackals were gnawing on it.

The villagers drove the animals away. Sarat Sahu of the village was identified as the deceased. Sarat, according to family members, went to the pond late Monday night with his fishing partner, but he did not return home.

When police were called, they rushed to the scene and began an investigation into the incident. The body was taken away for an autopsy.

Though the exact cause of Sarat's death has yet to be determined, his family members and locals believe he was killed by jackals. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and more information is awaited.
