Odisha: Junior Revenue Assistant caught taking Rs 40,000 bribe

Baripada: Odisha Vigilance agents nabbed a Junior Revenue Assistant in the office of the Tehsildar in Mayurbhanj district on Friday for allegedly receiving a bribe of Rs 40,000.
According to official sources, the culprit, Bhargab Mahakud, was caught red-handed, taking a bribe amount from a complainant at his office for processing a file in a mutation case for issuing a Record of Rights (Patta) in his favor.
Berhampur Vigilance has filed a case against him under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018. Furthermore, searches for excessive assets are underway in two Mahakud locations.
