On Saturday, eight people were arrested for allegedly trafficking ganja in the Nandapur area of Odisha's Koraput district, including five college students.

Koraput: On Saturday, eight people were arrested for allegedly trafficking ganja in the Nandapur area of Odisha's Koraput district, including five college students.

Apart from the five college students, police said the other three arrested people were Laxmidhar Khila, a middleman from Katwa, and Rahul Kumar and Saddam Hussain of the Champaran area in Bihar.

The five college students, led by one of them, were driving 35 kg of ganja to middleman Laxmidhar when they were apprehended by a police team.

According to Nandapur Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Sanjay Mohapatra, Laxmidhar was supposed to deliver the ganja to Bihar's Rahul Kumar and Sadam Hussain at Damanjodi Railway Station in Koraput district.

A case has been filed under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in this regard. He stated that the arrested individuals are being brought before a local court.

Sadanand Guntha of Daleiput, Bhisma Guntha, Jogesh Khada of Damodar, and Dambarudhar Khara of Arlaput have been identified as the arrested college students.
