Two government employees were arrested on suspicion of defrauding people by promising them jobs at the Sri Jagannath Medical College and Hospital in Puri, Odisha.

Puri: Two government employees were arrested on suspicion of defrauding people by promising them jobs at the Sri Jagannath Medical College and Hospital in Puri, Odisha.

According to sources, the two, identified as Kartika Sethi and Batakrushna Bhoi, allegedly defrauded three people in Budhang village, which falls under the jurisdiction of Brahmagiri police station in Puri district, of Rs four lakh.

Kartika is from Palli village in the Brahmagiri area, and Batakrushna is from Nalihana in the Puri Sadar area.

Kartika is said to work in the postal service, while Bhoi is a peon at the office of the Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO).

The two, who are also facing eight other cases of cheating, allegedly cheated three people out of Rs 4 lakh by promising them jobs at a medical college and hospital. The accused have been charged under IPC Sections 420, 468, 471, 34, and 120 (B).

According to the sources, the police have received several other complaints against the two accused persons, which are being investigated.
