34 New Courts To Be Established In Odisha
Bhubaneswar: On Monday, Law Minister Pratap Jena announced the establishment of 34 new courts across Odisha's districts.
A high-powered committee led by Finance Minister Niranjan Pujari has approved a proposal in this respect, and a notification would be issued once the Orissa High Court has given its assent.
The committee approved plans for a Special Vigilance Court in Gajapati district, seven District & Sessions Courts (two in Bhubaneswar, one each in Soro, Jaleswar, Chandikhole, Koraput, and R. Udayagiri), five Senior Division Civil Judge Courts (one each in Ranpur, Narasinghpur, Badamba, Sorada, and Rampur), and 11 Junior Division Civil Judge Courts (one each at Tusura, Dhenkanal, Soro, Simulia, Bahanaga, Jaleswar, Chandikhole, Barakote, Naugaon, Khajuripada and K Nuagaon).
In addition, 10 Commercial Courts have been approved (two in Puri, one each in Cuttack Sadar, Bhubaneswar, Balasore Sadar, Balangir Sadar, Kendrapara Sadar, Jeypore, Rourkela, and a Leave Reserve Court).
The new courts would be built with a budget of Rs 21.26 crore.
