A leading media organization had filed a complaint against him at Saheed Nagar police station for allegedly spreading false information about its channel and targeting employees. According to sources, he was apprehended by a special team last night while hiding in a hotel there.
Rout was charged under IPC Sections 294 (uttering any obscene song, ballad, or words in or near any public place), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 506 (criminal intimidation), 509 (Whoever, intending to insult the modesty of any woman) and 67. (publishing or transmitting obscene material in electronic form)

He had previously spent six months in Jharpada Special Jail here after being arrested for allegedly publishing obscene photos of sprinter Dutee Chand as well as attempting extortion. Sections 292 (obscene and indecent publication), 354 (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 385 (Putting person in fear of injury in order to commit extortion), 506 (criminal intimidation), 120B (criminal conspiracy), and 509 were then filed against him.
