Bhubaneswar: A YouTuber was arrested in the state capital of Odisha for allegedly making derogatory remarks about a woman on his Facebook page (SocialTalks), which he describes as a media/news company.
Priti Prakash Nayak (26) of Abulapura under Nandipur police station in Keonjhar district is currently residing at Niladri Vihar here.
According to police sources, on March 12, the accused made derogatory comments on a video message posted by the woman on a personal issue on social media by tagging it with the intent to humiliate her. He also threatened the woman when she objected.
The woman filed a complaint with Chandrasekharpur police on March 23, and he was arrested on Friday under Sections 506 (criminal intimidation), 354 (assault or criminal force to a woman with intent to outrage her modesty), and 509 (gesture or act intended to insult a woman's modesty) of the IPC and Sections 66 (C)/67 of the IT Act.
"The accused admitted to the crime. We have taken him to a local court. "Further investigation is underway," the official stated.
