Rayagada: On Tuesday, a Centrel Reserve Police Force (CRPF) officer allegedly shot himself with his service revolver in Odisha's Rayagada district.
According to sources, the deceased was Sunil Kumar, Assistant Commandant at the 4th Battalion Headquarter in Rayagada town. He was the battalion's second in command.
Sunil Kumar, from Bihar, had been staying at the CRPF Camp in Rayagada's Indranagar area for the past two years.
After receiving information, senior police officers and a scientific team rushed to the scene.
While the officer was suspected of committing suicide, the reason for his extreme action has yet to be determined.
The police have launched an investigation into the incident, and more information is awaited.
