A 52-year-old businessman was shot dead by two assailants while out for a morning walk in Shahdara, east Delhi, on Saturday, according to police reports.
The victim, Sunil Jain, who owned a utensil business, was returning home from his walk at the Yamuna Sports Complex when the attackers, riding a motorcycle, opened fire on him in the Farsh Bazar area. A senior police officer stated that Jain was shot multiple times and was rushed to a hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Reports indicate that Jain was on a scooter when he was targeted by the assailants, who fled the scene after the attack. The police have since launched a manhunt to apprehend them.
In response to the incident, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal criticized Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding the law and order situation in the capital. Kejriwal took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his concerns, stating, “Amit Shah Ji has ruined Delhi. The city has become lawless under him. The BJP is failing to control criminal activities. People should rise collectively and raise their voices.”
