Temperature in Odisha will continue to rise, heatwave conditions expected to last till April 29
Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department's (IMD) regional centre warned on Monday that daytime temperatures in Odisha are expected to rise by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius during the next two days.
As a result, maximum temperatures are expected to be higher than 40°C and 3 to 5°C above normal in several locations over the next 4 to 5 days. People should use caution while stepping outside throughout the day between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., according to the IMD, which blamed it on dry northwesterly/westerly air and high sun insolation.
By 2.30 p.m. on Monday, four areas in Odisha had reached 40°C or above, according to the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre. In Jharsuguda and Sambalpur, the temperature reached 42.6°C, followed by 41.2°C in Hirakud and 40°C in Chandbali. The temperature in Bhubaneswar was 38.6°C.
Heatwave conditions are expected to persist in the state through April 29, according to the MeT office.
