Maoists torch bus carrying passengers from Odisha to Hyderabad

Malkangiri: On Sunday night, suspected Maoists set fire to a bus travelling from Odisha to Hyderabad near Kutur village in the Chintoor police station in Andhra Pradesh.

Hundreds of Maoists lurking in the neighbouring bushes barricaded the road before setting fire to the bus. The tragedy happened during a Maoist-led bandh in the Dandakaranya district.

The passengers, estimated to number in the 40s and 50s, were requested to disembark, after which the Maoists set fire to the bus. There were no injuries to the passengers. The travellers were from Odisha's Nabarangpur district.

Following the incident, traffic on the road was impeded. The Chintoor police have arrived on the scene.
