Odisha to begin Plus II admissions from August 16
Bhubaneswar: Odisha's Plus II admission process will commence on August 16, according to School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Das.
Last year, the state's Plus II admissions began on August 21. This year, though, is different. The process will start between August 14 and 16, according to the minister.
According to Das, Matric students who took the offline improvement examination will be able to enrol in Plus II. “By the second week of this month, the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) hopes to complete the review of the offline examination papers and disclose the results by August 20,” he added.
The minister stated that Plus II colleges have sought for an increase in seats due to the record pass percentage in the Matric exams. “We will have no problems admitting students because we have received applications for an increase of around 55,000 additional seats.
The exact number of seats to be expanded for admission will be posted on the SAMS website (https://samsodisha.gov.in) before the admission process begins, he noted.
However, due to a lack of laboratories, the minister acknowledged that Science students will have difficulties. On Friday, he said, a meeting headed by the Principal Secretary was convened in this respect.
“The meeting determined that the department will assess the infrastructure of self-financing colleges to provide laboratory facilities to students,” he said.
