Odisha CB to investigate murder of Sanjay Dasburma’s aide
Puri: On Thursday, a four-member team from the Odisha Crime Branch began investigating the inexplicable murder of Chitta Ranjan Palei, a close associate of BJD politician and State Planning Board deputy chairman Sanjay Dasburma.
Chitta was a native of Brahmagiri's Sanabenakudi hamlet. His death was discovered in the Nuanai river on Monday, and his family demanded a CB investigation the next day, stating that he was murdered in a deliberate manner by his buddy Jagannath Sarangi.
This morning, the CB crew arrived at the crime scene in Brahmagiri, where the body was discovered, and spoke with villagers to piece together the events. It also gathered evidence on the scene, took photographs, and questioned residents, as well as taking down eyewitness names and addresses.
On Wednesday, DSP Sisir Kumar Mishra and his team met with Puri SP Kanwar Vishal Singh to take over the case.
On Saturday, Jagannath, who is also Das Burma's close acquaintance, allegedly invited Palai to a feast, following which he vanished. When he did not return home, his family filed a missing person report with the police. Later, cops discovered Jagannath with critical injuries near Gadamrugasira hamlet, which is under the Sadar police jurisdiction. At the scene, bloodstains and Chitta's possessions were discovered. On Monday, his body was discovered floating in Nuanai.
In the meantime, the BJP has sought Dasburma's resignation and requested the CM to oust him from the BJD.
