Bhubaneswar: Several national news websites reported the BJD's victory in the Odisha Urban Local Body (ULB) elections incorrectly, giving Naveen Patnaik's party victory in 95 of the 108 civic head positions that were announced on Saturday.
The outcome figures were incorrect on several national news websites, including India Today, Aaj Tak, and Amar Ujala.
According to Aaj Tak, the BJD has won 95 municipal head positions, the BJP 6, and the Congress 4.
The BJD gained 95 civic chief positions, according to Amar Ujala's report, which was published on Saturday night. However, its report on the Odisha civic polls, which was released on Saturday afternoon, stated that the BJD was ahead in 76 of the 108 civic chief posts, which is incorrect.
"The BJD has won 95 of 108 municipalities in the Odisha civic elections," according to India Today, "with the opposition BJP and Congress a distant second and third, respectively, gaining 16 and seven seats, while independents gained nine seats."
Until the filing of this report, all of these websites were displaying incorrect data.
The BJD has won chairperson posts in 73 municipalities/NACs and Mayor posts in all three municipal corporations of Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, and Berhampur, according to the State Election Commission (SEC), winning 76 civic chief posts out of 108 that have been announced.
The BJD won 73 of the 105 chairperson positions with a 69.52 percent vote, followed by the BJP with 16, the Congress with 7, and others with 9.
