Railway Minister Blames Odisha Government For Kalahandi Loco Workshop Delay

Bhawanipatna: During a tour of Kalahandi district, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that work on an electric loco periodic overhauling (POH) facility will commence as soon as the Odisha government grants the site.

The project will require more than 300 acres of land, according to the minister, but the state government has already offered 141 acres. He told the reporters, "I appeal to the citizens of Kalahandi to seek from the state government the requisite land for the project."

The project was sanctioned by Indian Railways in the 2017-18 budget at a cost of Rs 186.37 crore.

“I've come to seek the blessings of the people. Vaishnaw stated, "My goal is to improve the railway infrastructure in Kalahandi area and alleviate the people's problems."

As part of this initiative, the minister announced the launch of a rail project connecting Junagarh and Ambaguda. He also stated that pending projects, such as the development of the railway line from Junagarh to Dharmagarh, would be hastened.

“Those who have not seen agony would not understand the plight of regular people,” the BJP leader remarked, referring to the state administration. Prime Minister Narendra Modi knows this because he comes from a common family. It is not necessary for us to learn from others.”

Aside from politics and public engagements, the minister paid a visit to a temple. “At Maa Manikeswari shrine in Bhawanipatna, I gave my devotion to the deity,” he stated.

On Saturday, Vaishnaw was accompanied on his tour by Kalahandi MP Basanta Panda and several district BJP leaders.
