Jeypore Airport gets DGCA nod for scheduled air operations under UDAN
Bhubaneswar: Good news for the KBK region: Jeypore Airport has been given a licence for airport operations under Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik, and flight services will soon begin from the tribally dominant Koraput district in Odisha (UDAN).
According to a tweet from the Ministry of Civil Aviation on Thursday, this will aid in boosting tourism and the development of this tribal area.
Usha Padhee, additional secretary for the ministry of civil aviation, retweeted the article and said, "I'm really pleased to see the License come through." Bravo to @AAI Official and team #Odisha! I hope #UDAN flights arrive in Jeypore as soon as possible. The tribal heartland, #Koraput, holds a very special place in my heart.
Notably, a three-person team from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) raised some concerns about the runway's safety and security during their visit to the Jeypore airstrip in July and asked the district administration for prompt action before granting final permission for flight operations.
The airport is ready, and once the necessary licence is obtained for the purpose, an airline is eager to start flight operations, according to a statement made by the state's Commerce and Transport department in September.
