Berhampur: A significant amount of firecrackers were recovered and one individual was detained from a village in the Ganjam district of Odisha on Thursday as a result of police crackdowns on illicit cracker activity in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.

A police team conducted raids in Nalabanta village within the Aska police limits in the district after receiving a tip, and from a guy who was caught, they were able to seize a significant amount of firecrackers and the ingredients used to make them.

According to reports, the estimated market value of the goods, including the crackers that were seized, was roughly Rs 45 lakh.

In addition, a van that was in the accused's hands and used to carry firecrackers to the neighbourhood was seized by police.

Under several sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Explosive Substances Act have filed a case against the defendant (IPC). According to sources, further investigation is being conducted.

Six people were detained for allegedly manufacturing and selling firecrackers in Cuttack on Wednesday, while police earlier in the day confiscated a large number of firecrackers from a market area in Bhubaneswar.
