Huge cache of Maoist arms and ammunition recovered in Koraput
Koraput: During a search operation in a forested area in the Koraput district of Odisha, security personnel discovered a sizable stash of Maoists' weapons and ammunition.
On Sunday, a team from the District Voluntary Force (DVF), Koraput and members of the 151 Battalion, Border Security Forces (BSF), Ramagiri COB, began a search operation in the forests surrounding the villages of Ambagandili, Maliguda, and Garampani, which are under the jurisdiction of the Boipariguda police.
On Monday, while conducting the operation, the security forces discovered a Maoist explosives dump in the Garampani forest. At a news conference on Tuesday, Koraput SP Varun Guntupali revealed that they had removed from the dump nine.303 ball ammunitions, 48 AK-47 ball ammunitions, 108.22 inch ammunitions, 2 charger clips, 1.5 kg of splinters, and 95 gelatin sticks.
It should be mentioned that starting July 28 and continuing through August 3, the outlawed Maoists have observed "Martyrs Week" in their strongholds throughout the state.
