Huge Cache Of Weapons, Materials Of Maoists Unearthed In Malkangiri
Bhubaneswar: An enormous amount of weapons, including explosive devices, have been confiscated by security personnel after they discovered a Maoist arms cache in the Judambo neighbourhood of Odisha's Malkangiri district, a police officer announced on Saturday.
A thorough search and area dominance were conducted in the Jodambo region of Swabhiman Anchal by members of the elite Special Operation Group (SOG), District Voluntary Force (DVF), and Border Security Force (BSF), according to Malkangiri SP Nitesh Wadhwani.
According to him, the operations resulted in the discovery of a significant Maoist dump on Friday close to the jungle area of the village of Arlingpada in the Jantri Gran Panchayat. He added that a significant amount of weapons, IEDs, welding equipment, as well as Maoist literature and other items, were also seized.
These materials are thought to have been used to make weapons that were aimed at both security personnel and civilians. The SP claimed that during Maoist Martyrs Week, which this time was incident-free, this may have been utilised against the security personnel.
He stated, "We assume that these explosives, along with other items, are the property of the Maoist cadres of the AOBSZC and were intended to be utilised against defenceless civilians and security personnel to further their subversive, anti-national operations.
Additional combing and search efforts are being conducted in the region following the recovery. It should be emphasised that throughout Maoist Martyr's Week, which ended on August 4, Malkangiri District remained incident-free. We firmly resolve to suppress all Maoist activity in the district, the SP continued.
