Firecracker mishap in Kendrapara: 3 members of Puja Committee arrested

Kendrapada: Three puja committee members were arrested on Friday in connection with the firecracker incident at Balia Bazaar in Odisha's Kendrapara district.
According to sources, the Sadar police are questioning eight more people in this case.
More than 40 individuals were burned when firecrackers exploded during Lord Kartikeswar's immersion ceremony on Wednesday night.
At the immersion site, different puja pandals competed in bursting firecrackers. A spark from a firework landed on a pile of stored firecrackers, causing them to explode and injure the people.
The injured were all rushed to Kendrapada's district headquarters hospital (DHH). Around 33 persons were injured and were originally treated at the DHH before being transferred to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
At least ten critically injured people were admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) with burns ranging from 80 to 90 percent and were being treated by a special team of doctors.
