Bhitarkanika national park to reopen for visitors from tomorrow
Kendrapada: Bhitarkanika National Park in Odisha's Kendrapda district will return to tourists and wildlife enthusiasts on Monday after being shuttered for three months.
It is being prepared to welcome visitors to the park, which is home to a variety of wildlife species, including estuarine crocodiles and birds, according to district Forest Department sources.
Battery-operated boats, a selfie station, an air-conditioned café, a boat library, and a crocodile nursery at Luna are all being prepared for tourists. Similar to this, tourist accommodations and museums are cleaned up, and mechanised boats are kept in working order.
Visitors can access the National Park through water from Gupti, Khola, and Chandbali, and via land from Dangamal via the main gate. For them, cottages have been built in Gupti and Dangamal.
Rajnagar DFO Yagnadatt Pati discussed the preparations by announcing that a new cafe has opened for visitors at Dnagamal and that a boat library will also be made available to them. "We anticipate that guests will follow COVID rules while in the park. We have eliminated all plastic from the park, and we hope that visitors will do the same while they are there.
The yearly crocodile nesting, during which they deposit their eggs on the surface, caused the national park to be closed from May 1 to July 31. During this time, the reptiles frequently exhibit violent behaviour and assault visitors.
