BJD ZP Member, Cop Arrested For Running Spurious Liquor Manufacturing Unit In Odisha

Dhenkanal: Three people were arrested on Monday night, including a Zilla Parishad (ZP) member of the ruling BJD, for allegedly running a bogus liquor operation in Odisha's Dhenkanal district.

According to sources, on December 2 night, a joint team of Excise officials from Kamakhyanagar, Parjang, and Gandia raided the bogus liquor unit at Ektali village within the Bhuban police limits on the instruction of district collector Saroj Kumar Sethi.

During the raid, the crew recovered counterfeit foreign liquor bottles of various well-known brands, a liquor packing machine, stickers, labels, caps, corks, and empty bottles worth millions of rupees. The Excise squad also detained ZP member Subash Majhi, his relative Susant Dalei, and Arabinda Das for operating an illicit booze manufacturing operation.

Dhenkanal Deputy Superintendent Sitarani Patnaik was present during the raid.

In the most recent panchayat elections, Majhi was elected as a ZP member from Bhuban block zone 3. Dalei works as a constable at the Jakhapura police station in the Jajpur district. Arabinda is from Mrudanga village, whereas Majhi and Dalei are from Ektali.
