Aahar centres to be set up in CHCs, PHCs

Koraput: Under the Odisha government's food subsidization scheme, the Koraput administration has decided to create Aahar centers at all panchayat-level community and primary health centers.
Aahar centers are already operational in the Koraput and Jeypore headquarters hospitals, supplying patients and visitors with subsidized food.
There are currently 51 PHCs and 16 CHCs operating in the district. The Aahar centers will be established first in CHCs and afterwards in PHCs. According to sources, the respective panchayats will provide the monies in collaboration with the administration.
During the Mission Shakti meeting, Koraput collector Abdaal M Akhtar also stated that the women's self-help groups will manage these centers at PHCs and CHCs.
Notably, the Aahar program began on April 1, 2015. The nodal department is the Housing and Urban Development Department, and the goal is to offer cooked hot meals - steamed rice and dalma - to the poor and needy for Rs. 5.
