ACF Death: Victim's family to be questioned once more by the police

Bhubaneswar: On Saturday, Gajapati district police would travel to Balasore and Balangir districts to investigate the death of Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF) of Paralakhemundi Soumya Ranjan Mohapatra.
Bibekanand Swain, the IIC of the Paralakhemundi Town police station, said one team will go to the Livestock Inspectors' Training Centre in Balangir district, where Bidyabharati Panda, the deceased's wife, hosted a bachelors' party on April 11.
Another team will go to Begunia village in Balasore district's Khaira block to question Soumya Ranjan's family members for the second time.
Ranjan Mohapatra, the deceased's older brother, expressed displeasure and scepticism over the police inquiry on Saturday. He explained to the reporters how his wife, who was present in the house, was unaware that his brother was on fire.
Bidyabharati's motivation in turning over the house key to the Forest Department after the occurrence was questioned by the brother, who said it was a pre-planned murder.
Ranjan claimed his brother was referred to the district headquarters hospital for treatment after suffering severe burn injuries, and then to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur. “But why was my brother referred to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack instead of being admitted there?”
In response to a question on the ACF's relationship with his wife, he stated that Bidyabharati's family has stated that there was no misunderstanding between them. He said that Bidyabharati's letters to her husband, on the other hand, tell a different storey.
Ranjan stated he had previously informed the media of Bidyabharati's visit to Balangir. He stated that the question now is who accompanied her to Balangir.
He was also curious about the identity of the guy who had travelled with Bidyabharati to Bhubaneswar.
Gajapati SP Tapan Kumar Patnaik had handed Gajapati DFO Sangram Keshari Behera a clean chit after his interrogation in connection with the ACF's death on Friday.
