Road Communication in South Odisha Districts Affected By Cyclone Gulab
Bhubaneswar: Gulab, a cyclonic storm that passed between the beaches of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh on Sunday night, has disrupted road traffic in various districts in south Odisha.
The uprooting of large trees in Kunduli under the Pottangi police limits has hindered road connection in Koraput district. Furthermore, several trees have fallen on the Lamtaput-Vishakhapatnam route in Kanchana.
On Monday, a section of the NH-26 near the government hospital in Sunki was inundated by floodwaters due to overnight heavy rain.
The ODRAF crew arrived quickly and relocated the victims to a nearby Large Area Multi-Purpose Cooperative Societies (LAMPS) office.
Road connection was hampered in Malkangiri district after large trees fell on the road near Tarlakota, and the asbestos roofs of several houses in the Raleguda block were damaged.
The authorities in Ganjam district closed the Soroda-Daringbadi ghat road due to landslides caused by heavy rain.
On Sunday, the administration set up camp at the Gajalbadi block to prevent people from travelling through the ghat route and remove the residents of the hill forest. The people were then sent to a cyclone shelter, where the authorities made plans to feed them dry and prepared food.
