Bhadrak: A youth was mercilessly thrashed after allegedly being tied to a pole during a local cricket match in Laxmiprasad village, Basudevpur block, Bhadrak district, Odisha.

The victim has been identified as Siddharth Rout, the winning team's captain.

The incident occurred on February 25, according to sources. At the village ground, an argument erupted between the two teams over a batter's shot.

When Siddharth was walking home from the game, some members of the opposing team grabbed him and tied him to an electric pole on the outskirts of the village. They thrashed him mercilessly, causing severe injuries to his head, chest, and legs.

When his family attempted to intervene, they were thrashed as well.

After being notified, police arrived on the scene, rescued the victim, and admitted him to the hospital. A case has been filed, and additional investigation is underway.
