Two buses collide in Ganjam; 12 dead, 15 critical

Berhampur: When a private bus carrying a wedding party collided head on with an OSRTC bus near Moulabhanja Square in Digapahandi in Odisha's Ganjam district, at least 12 passengers were killed and more than 15 were injured.
The collision occurred late on Sunday night while the minibus carrying a wedding party from Berhampur was on its way to Dengaosta and the OSRTC bus was on its way to Bhubaneswar from Gudari in Rayagada. According to sources, all of the deceased were passengers on the mini private bus.
All of the injured have been admitted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in this city, with some serious patients being transferred to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed his condolences for the passengers' tragic deaths and allocated Rs 3 lakh each from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund to the families of the deceased passengers. He also ordered that all injured passengers receive free treatment and wished them a speedy recovery.
Dibyajyoti Parida, Ganjam Collector, Berhampur SP Dr Saravana Vibek M, SDPO, IIC Digapahandi, and Fire Brigade personnel rushed to the scene and rescued the passengers.
According to the SP, police officers rushed to the scene and rescued the injured passengers, who were taken to the hospital.
According to sources, the deceased include Sitaram Pradhan (60), Sanjay Medini Ray (50), Tripati Pradhan, Ayush and Sangita Dakua (25), Sugyani (27), Sibani Pradhan (27), Litu Nayak (40), Debanshu Pradhan (2), Alok Pradhan (14) and Suvendu Pradhan (32).
According to police, the driver of the minibus was also injured.
