Sambalpur: On Saturday, a schoolteacher was discovered dead with cut marks on his throat in the Kuchinda area of Odisha's Sambalpur district.

According to sources, the deceased, Prithviraj Mahananda (38), was a teacher at Mantrimunda Primary School and lived in Kuchinda's Ward No. 6 locality.

While the cause of his death had yet to be determined, preliminary reports indicated that someone had murdered him.

Local residents discovered his body in a pool of blood beneath the new bridge over the Kharla River this morning, and Kuchinda police were notified.

A police team rushed to the scene and recovered the body, which was then sent for a post-mortem examination. The police launched an investigation to determine what caused his death.

According to sources, the teacher left the house on Friday evening but did not return. Despite their best efforts, the family members were unable to locate him. However, his body was discovered. More information is awaited.
