The last time India won medals at the Olympics was in the 2012 London edition, when rapid-fire pistol shooter Vijay Kumar and 10m air rifle marksman Gagan Narang clinched bronze. The Indian contingent comprises 117 members, including 70 males and 47 females, with 29 members in athletics (11 women and 18 men), followed by 21 in shooting and 19 in hockey. It will be the second-largest Indian contingent after the Tokyo Olympic Games 2020.
