Balangir: Police have seized a gunny bag containing the remains of a man who was allegedly thrashed to death by his in-laws last night in Odisha's Balangir district's Chabripali village under Khaprakhol police limits.
Two people who were driving the van with the body were detained and questioned.
The deceased's wife, Rudra Meher of Rajabhatipada village under Padampur police limits in Bargarh district, had returned to her father's house following a disagreement between the couple. Rudra paid a visit to his in-laws on Wednesday in an attempt to persuade Sarojini to return to him. However, an argument ensued, and the family, in a fit of rage, thrashed him to death, according to sources.
They then stuffed the body in a gunny bag and loaded it into a van to destroy the evidence. However, police were alerted to the incident and stopped the vehicle, seizing the body.
The body has been sent for a postmortem, and further investigation is underway.
