Baripada: A bus carrying at least 25 people overturned on the National Highway-18 near Krushnachandrapur in Odisha's Mayurbhanj district, injuring at least 25 people, four of whom were critically.

According to sources, the mishap occurred late on Sunday night while the passenger bus carrying more than 50 passengers was on its way to Bhubaneswar from Rairangpur.

After being notified, firefighters and National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) ambulances and firefighters rushed to the scene and rescued the injured passengers.

All of the injured have been taken to Baripada's Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College and Hospital. While 25 passengers were injured, four were said to be in critical condition.

While the exact cause of the accident was unknown, the driver of the vehicle was suspected of losing control of the wheels before the vehicle overturned.

A Betanati police team arrived on the scene and began an investigation into the accident.
