Tulu Patra of the Balasore district was rescued by Fire Service personnel after a two-hour rescue operation. He has been detained for questioning at the Capital police station.
Locals spotted him on the 30 ft tower and alerted Fire Service personnel, according to sources. He was heard complaining about his wife and children not obeying him as a driver. "An investigation is currently being conducted. "The reason for Tulu's suicide attempt will be determined after questioning," a police officer said.
In December of last year, Rourkela social activist Muktikant Biswal climbed atop the same hoarding and threatened to commit suicide after failing to meet with Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik about the non-completion of various projects in Rourkela.
