Two minor girls gang-raped in Bhubaneswar; prime accused arrested

Bhubaneswar: Two teenage girls were allegedly raped by two adolescents late Monday night at Patia Railway Station, amid tight security in the capital city due to the Men's Hockey World Cup.
According to accounts, the two youngsters, aged 12 and 14, are Patia residents. The two accused reportedly kidnapped them when they went to the railway station in the evening.
According to the allegation submitted by the family members, the youngsters abducted them from Patia and took them to the railway over-bridge, tied them up with a rope, and raped them the entire night.
The accused further allegedly threatened them with terrible consequences if they revealed the incident to others. The problem was brought to light, however, when the girls returned home the next morning and notified their family members.
After being informed, Childline reported the incident to Infocity Police, and police and Childline workers proceeded to the crime scene with the victims. Later, one of the girls' mothers filed a FIR at the government railway police station.
While the main suspect, Kanha alias Krushna Mallick (23) of Padanpur in Banki, has been apprehended, an investigation is continuing to apprehend another fugitive accused juvenile. "The following morning, both minor girls came at their house in a terrible state. "The Infocity police have recorded their statements and they are now in the custody of childline," a police officer added.
