Senior Revenue Assistant arrested taking bribe in Bargarh

Bargarh: On Friday, vigilance officers detained a state government official who had accepted a Rs 5,000 bribe in the Bargarh district of Odisha.

The Vigilance Department set a trap after receiving a complaint that Balaram Kalari, a senior revenue assistant in the tehsildar's office in the district of Ambabhona, was asking for bribes of Rs 5,000 in exchange for preparing a report on the division of the complainant's ancestral property's land and issuing separate RoRs.

According to the plan, the complaint went to hand over the bribe, but the Vigilance agents caught him in the act of accepting it. They took the accused's possession of the entire sum and retrieved it.

In this regard, Sambalpur Vigilance has filed a case under the PC (Amendment) Act, 2018, and further investigation is ongoing.
