Bhubaneswar: Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan asked for the development of the Cuttack-Angul and Sambalpur-Angul portions of the Union road transport and Highway Minister Nitin Gadkari (55).

Pradhan added that, in a letter to Gadkari on Friday, he had received a request from the Boinda people of Angul district pointing out that the extension of the national road going through Odisha had been excessively delayed.

In December 2018, the petitioners said that the basis of the NH was established and the objective was finished by September 2020. However, it is still unfinished until now.

Pradhan stated in his letter that two bridges have still not been finished at Panimahar or Chandan Pokhiri, while seven elephants under pass are still pending.

In addition, local residents said that the quality of Gayatri Projects Ltd's project work has not been achieved. As a result, traffic accidents from the newly built areas have often been recorded. In many traffic accidents in this area during the past four years, over 600 lives were lost.

Pradhan further noted that the new rate of land compensation was not given in several areas to land losers.
