Bhubaneswar: Odisha topped the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship's nationwide competition, India Skills 2021.

Odisha took home 51 medals in various categories, placing first among all states and union territories. In the tournament, the state won ten gold, 18 silver, and nine bronze medals, as well as 14 Medallions of Excellence. Kerala was ranked second and Maharashtra was ranked third.

The closed-door competition featured teams from 26 states and territories competing in over 50 disciplines like automobile painting, patisserie and confectionery, welding, additive manufacturing, cyber security, and floristry.

The 'Skilled in Odisha' youths have been congratulated by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for their performance in the tournament. In a tweet, he said, "Proud of SkilledOdisha youths as Odisha became No. 1 in Gold, No. 1 in Silver, No. 1 in Bronze, and No. 1 in Medallion tally at IndiaSkills2021, which was made possible by shared vision and collaborative hard effort."

Odisha will send the largest contingent to World Skill Sanghai 2022 as a result of its performance.

The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), the key body for skill and entrepreneurship development, hosted India Skills 2021 in New Delhi this month under the leadership of the Ministry.
