Bhubaneswar: On Friday, Kahandagiri Police nabbed two people in connection with an alleged 'kangaroo court' in which two underage boys were punished in Odisha's capital.

According to sources, the kangaroo court was held on Thursday about 8 p.m. in Pala Mandap in the Baramunda region of Khandagiri police limits. In the viral video, a child, his father, and a friend are forced to do sit-ups and kneel as punishment for allegedly making sexual comments about some schoolgirls.

The villagers reportedly threatened to boycott the boys' families, who are Class X students.

Tormented by the incident, one of the lads allegedly tried suicide by ingesting phenyl and was admitted to Capital Hospital for treatment, according to the sources.

In response to the allegations, victims filed a police report against five people, including a woman.

"My 16-year-old nephews got into a fight with their pals at their hangout, but we were taken to kangaroo court on false allegations," Suresh Paranga explained.

He also said that the locals abused them and forced them to sign an obligation. They were also warned not to approach police.
