Mad dog goes on biting spree in Balasore, over 30 injured

Balasore: A stray dog assaulted more than 30 persons in the Pathan Mahala area of Balasore district, just days after an American Akita was expelled from Odisha's capital for mauling an 8-year-old.
According to reports, the dog attacked people when they were out on a morning stroll. All of the injured were taken to the district headquarters hospital.
Locals beat the dog to death after the incident.
This follows on the heels of a pet dog being barred from Bhubaneswar after a complaint was lodged at Infocity police station against the owner of the American Akita after it allegedly assaulted an eight-year-old youngster. The incident occurred on the evening of November 6th.
The small boy was injured on seven different parts of his body, including his back and stomach. In the attack, he received a category III bite, according to his mother.
Bhubaneswar is also developing standards that would require pet owners to obtain permission from the city administration before keeping a pet.
