Cuttack: Late Thursday, a man was killed and his wife was badly injured during a burglary at their home in Lendura Bhagabanpur village, Nemal police limits in Odisha's Cuttack district.
Hrusikesh Muduli has been identified as the dead. Kanakalata, his wife, has been admitted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for treatment.
According to sources, the intruders broke into the house at 1 a.m. When the couple resisted, they attacked them with sharp weapons and fled with gold jewels worth lakhs of rupees. They protected the couple's children by locking them in another room.
Meanwhile, police have launched an investigation to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.
