Bhadrak bandh underway; medical college, university demanded

Bhadrak: An eight-hour bandh from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. was declared in Odisha's Bhadrak on Monday, with Congress supporters resorting to picketing and road blockades at several locations throughout the town.

The party has convened the bandh to advocate for the universityization of Bhadrak Autonomous College and the creation of a medical college in the city.

Due to the bandh, shops, businesses, and educational institutions remained closed, according to sources. Vehicle traffic was also halted as party members set up roadblocks at various intersections.

Congress politician Nalinikant Mohanty accused the state administration of ignoring Bhadrak, claiming that medical institutions are being established across Odisha but there is no plan for the district.

If the demands are not met, the party has warned to escalate the agitation.
