BJP organises statewide ‘Satyagraha’ against deteriorating law and order situation in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: On Monday, the BJP began a statewide 'Satyagraha' in Odisha, alleging misgovernance, an increase in crimes against women, increased political criminalization, and a worsening law and order situation during the BJD's tenure in the state.
A big number of BJP leaders and workers gathered near the state party headquarters in Bhubaneswar and staged a sit-in as part of a protest against the state administration. During the 'Satyagraha,' similar protests were organized in several sections of the state.
The BJP's 'Satyagraha' coincided with the ruling BJD's huge silver jubilee event in Puri commemorating the party's founding day.
Protesters accused the state administration of failing to maintain law and order, alleging involvement of ruling BJD leaders, including Ministers, in murder, sexual assault, and other crimes.
Senior party leaders, including BJP state unit president Samir Mohanty, charged that the ruling BJD was criminalizing politics and crimes against women in the state.
They said that during the last 23 years of the BJD's administration, Odisha has become a safe haven for criminals and anti-social forces, but that the people of Odisha are peace-loving and proud of Jagannath culture.
However, in the last 23 years, BJD leaders, including Ministers, have been accused of murder, sexual assault, and anti-woman actions, according to Mohanty.
Coming down hard on the BJD government, he claimed that an increase in crime, particularly against women, appears to be the regional party's primary accomplishment.
Former Minister Dibya Shankar Mishra's involvement in the Mamita Meher murder case is being investigated, he said, adding that the death of Gobinda Sahu, the prime accused in the case, in Kantabanji jail in Balangir district has raised many questions because it occurred just before his scheduled appearance before a local court.
In an attack on the BJD government over the Mahanga double murder case, the BJP leader claimed that former Minister Pratap Jena's involvement was being investigated. Surprisingly, the prime accused in the case was killed by a truck, according to BJP authorities.
Similarly, they alleged that Gop Zilla Parishad Member Dharemdnra Sahoo used the name of School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash in his latest video.
