World famous Dhanu Jatra starts from today in Bargarh

Bargarh: After a two-year hiatus owing to COVID, the internationally recognized 75th Dhanu Yatra is back in Odisha's Bargarh from December 27 (today) to January 6.
According to sources, Bargarh MP Suresh Pujari and MLA Debesh Acharya will kick off the 11-day fiesta on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
Dhanu Yatra is based on Krishna Leela and will depict Krishna and his uncle Kansa's mythical narrative.
Bargarh changes into Mathura during Dhanu Jatra. River Jeera symbolizes the Yamuna, while Ambapali, which is located on the other side of the river Jeera, becomes Gopapur.
Kansa is the principal character of Dhanu Yatra and its premise is drawn from 'Krishna Leela' and 'Mathura Vijay'. A Raj Darbar (royal court) 42 feet tall, 120 feet long, and 35 feet broad for King Kansa has been built, as has a Rangamahal where the actors will delight the audience with their performances.
This year, Hrusikesh Bhoi will play the mythological character Kansa. This is the tenth time that this inhabitant of Chicholi village in Ambabhona Block in Bargarh district will don the grease paint for the 'Maharaja' role.
For 11 days, the entire town of Bargarh will be transformed into a play stage, and Kansa will rule the town while local citizens serve as his subjects. Kansa, the main character in Dhanu Yatra, will hold his Raj Durbar for seven days.
'Krishna Leela and Mathura Vijay' is the fundamental topic of the Dhanu Yatra. The event begins with the reenactment of King Kansa's sister Devaki's wedding to Vasudev and concludes with 'Kansa Badha' at the hands of his nephew Lord Krishna on the final day.
The festival will feature performances by artists from 130 cultural troupes from across the country. To make the occasion more enticing and exciting, Bargarh town is being decked out with lights and colorful gates.
It is worth noting that Shreyas Pujhari, a 12-year-old child actor who was chosen to play Balaram, died on December 11. He was from Amapali in the town of Bargarh.
