BJD to hold foundation day silver jubilee function in a big way in Puri on Dec 26
Bhubaneswar: The ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD), which could not mark its 25th foundation day last year owing to COVID epidemic last year, would organise it in Puri on December 26.
Speaking to media persons in Bhubaneswar on Sunday, BJD vice-president Debi Prasad Mishra said party president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has approved a proposal for the celebration.
"We could not commemorate 25th foundation day adequately last year owing to the epidemic. "Our party president has granted his consent for the function on December 26 in Puri," he stated.
He stated that all office-bearers of the party's state, district, and block units, as well as elected legislators, would attend the celebration and that Naveen will address party leaders and workers on the day.
In the following 15 days, the BJD will hold foundation days in all Assembly constituencies.
In the 2000 elections, the BJD, which was created on December 26, 1997, formed a government in Odisha in coalition with the BJP for the first time. Since then, the regional party has been continuously voted to power for 5 times though it broke company with the BJP in 2009.
